Nurse Practitioners

A nurse practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed advanced education, a master’s degree in nursing, and training in the diagnosis and management of medical conditions.

They maintain a close working relationship with the physicians and provide some of the same care.


Rushmi Reehal
Rushmi Reehal grew up in Orange County and attended the University of California, Irvine, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. She completed her Masters of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies at the Western University of Health Sciences. Throughout her clinical rotations, she found her experience in cardiology to be exceptionally fulfilling.

She sees new patient consults and follow-ups for various cardiac conditions, performs cardiac stress tests, and provides important patient education to improve patients’ health.

Rushmi is board certified as a physician assistant. She is an active member of the California Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. She joined Inland Cardiology in February 2012.

She values building strong relationships with her patients. Her passion is in helping patients gain a better understanding about their cardiac health and motivating them to achieve their best quality of life.
Leanna Hizon
Leanna Hizon was raised in California and attended the University of Southern California where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. After receiving her degree, she worked at the Veteran’s Administration Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, California in the coronary care unit. During her employment at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital, she pursued her Master’s Degree in Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at the University of California, Los Angeles where she focused in cardiology. She joined Inland Cardiology in March 2005.

She is a member of California Association for Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is certified as a nurse practitioner with the California Board of Registered Nursing and as an acute care nurse practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
